Shubham is broadly interested in understanding the various aspects of lipid physiology in the development and maintenance of the central nervous system. He completed his doctoral training from IISER-Pune, India in 2021, where he studied how deregulated lipid metabolism and signaling contribute to the pathophysiology of PHARC Syndrome – an autosomal recessive neurodegenerative disorder.
Thereafter, he joined our lab as a postdoctoral fellow and he is working on functional characterization of progranulin and is interested to understand how progranulin deficiency causes lysosomal lipid storage defect and frontotemporal dementia. In addition, he is also interested to understand how aging worsens neurodegenerative disorders like FTD.
